Stan 2.16 and algebra solver

Do we have an estimated date for 2.16? I definitely think the algebraic solver could (should!) be in the next release and I can shuffle priorities if I have some date in mind.

Here’s what needs to be done:

  • edit the grammar files to remove superfluous “function name” argument
  • write tests for “bad” models
  • undergo review by other developers

which isn’t that much.

By the way, the solver in the math repo is done and has been for a while (hence the pull-request).

No immediate plans, so I doubt anyone’s going to push for a release in the next month.

We’re planning to do one more C++03 release before switching to C++11.
