For anyone who wants to get started using Stan, I have my usual two-day courses at the Royal Statistical Society this year:
- 29-30 April 2025, London UK
- 23-24 September 2025, online
These use a Jupyter server so you don’t have to worry about software installation, permissions, giving your sysadmin a box of chocolates, &c &c. I demo everything in cmdstanr but I provide Stan code and data, so you can use your own preferred interface if you like. You can find details here: RSS - Introduction to Bayesian Analysis using Stan
By the way, if you have a whole team that might benefit, I have done this as a private on-site or online course a few times before, for some discerning clients, though I can’t tell you who they were. Speak to training@rss.org.uk and they’ll give you a quote.
The RSS prices are pretty reasonable if I do say so myself. For the London course, make sure first that you have a visa or other relevant travel authorisation.
There is also a Bayesian meta-analysis course, but as I have a book coming out this year on that subject, I’ll have more to say about that later.
