Universal probabilistic programming for phylogenetics: challenges and opportunities
Fredrik Ronquist is a professor at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, Department of Bioinformatics and Genetics, and a leading figure in computational phylogenetics. He is best known as the co-creator of MrBayes, one of the most widely used Bayesian phylogenetic inference tools in evolutionary biology. His research spans statistical modelling, biodiversity informatics, and the development of robust methods for reconstructing evolutionary history. Ronquist has also contributed extensively to building large-scale biological data infrastructures and advancing reproducible computational workflows.
