CmdStan Big Sur Installation Failure

Hi,

I receive this error attempting to install CmdStan both via the command line and CmdStanR. I’ve referred to the suggestions offered here and here, but to no avail. All the internal checks clear, but is certainly an issue with how the compiler is behaving with Big Sur more generally, eg. I am completely unable to install the macOS R Toolchain, receiving the following error, and the manual installation fails as well.

  • Compiler/Toolkit: Apple clang version 12.0.0 (clang-1200.0.32.28) / GNU Make 3.81

where did you get the R toolchain installer pkg from - here? R for Mac OS X

are you on an M1 machine? per discussion here: Anyone planning on getting an M1 machine to benchmark?

It’s an Intel machine, and the toolchain 's just the latest @coatless release.
