Would you be able to share some ways that Stan or similar PPLs are used in day-to-day work at Wegmans?
Good question!
I will first say that we don’t use Stan/PyMC exclusively. They are a large part of the models that we build, but they don’t encapsulate the entire pie. We use them mostly when structural business requirements are key, such as: survey modeling, choice models, times series, networks, causal inference, etc.
Just to give a high level example. We recently completed a project where we were determining the effect of a promotion to a specific subset of customers. Stan was the engine that drove that analysis.
