Looking at this vignette:

it seems to me that the placement of the tildes is off.
This post suggests that \widetilde is preferable:
Changed “\tilde{” to “\widetilde{” and it sure looks better on my machine - fix everywhere?

Thanks Mitzi. Changing to widetilde in the vignettes is fine by me.
Changes made - this is only an issue for the Posterior Predictive Check vignette. PR pending.
