This release cycle focused on stability and usability improvements, with a few new features and a lot of work under the hood for upcoming features.

Great job everyone! What are some of those exciting features that are being worked on for future releases that you tease?
The biggest one is probably the continued work on the embedded Laplace approximation, including some pretty major improvements by @stevebronder in Add Wolfe line search to Laplace approximation by SteveBronder · Pull Request #3250 · stan-dev/math · GitHub.
A lot of the Stan developers have also been working on not-immediately-Stan MCMC projects that I think will eventually make it back into Stan in some form (WALNUTS, improved adaptation, automated stopping criteria, etc), though the timeline theres are murkier for sure
