Commercial uses of Stan or informative priors more generally

Hi all. I’m writing a progress report for a granting agency–our grant is on informative priors, which as you know is central to a lot of Stan research and practice. They are asking for examples where “another organization funds the continued development of the research project” or when “there is a company that is using some of our results.” By “another organization,” they do not simply mean another funding agency.

If anybody can offer some examples (you can post if you want or just email to me), that would be great. This sort of external use is one of the strengths of Stan, and any information that can help with these progress reports will help us get continued funding for the sorts of basic research that make such a difference in Stan’s practical utility.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t know if this info helps at all, but my company has used Stan for the core inferential results of a pair of preliminary technology-validation studies. Full papers for both are currently under revision after an initial round of peer-review, but here are citations for a couple conference posters:

Also, I have long term plans to incorporate Stan (possibly one of the streaming variants that @s.maskell’s team is working on) in our real-time neuro-feedback system, but don’t have anything in that regard that’s ready for public consumption.

The data science team at NCX uses Stan extensively for a wide variety of applications, including forest carbon estimation (e.g., Basemap).

Oh! @andrewgelman you should search here for the job ads that have been posted and maybe contact the ad-posters for testimonials.

Thanks! I think what we have here will be enuf for me for now.
