Restructuring the forums: pre-proposal

The one question I have is about the reasoning for auto-closing. I believe you that there are good reasons for doing this, but I’m not too sure what they are. On the other hand, I think there are a couple of use cases for not doing this:

  • Are we confident that we won’t let well-posed questions slip through the cracks for a month without an answer?
  • Are we confident that there is nothing older than a month in Discourse right now that is simply incorrect and uncorrected?
  • Occasionally I encounter an old post that could benefit from updating. Usually I find these posts as I search the Discourse for problems that are relevant to my work, so I suspect that others might find and use them from time to time. Do we want to avoid updating these? Here’s a recent example:
