Oh, I forgot to add that Yuling has been working on this. See [this Discourse topic on soft contraints](https://discourse.mc-stan.org/t/does-the-soft-constraint-converge-to-rigid-constraint/6127). I still haven’t digested it all yet, so I’m afraid I can’t summarize.
