LTO & R on Mac

Neat! But reading the post this seems to say that R itself will be compiled to binaries for distribution using LTO right? Compiling packages using LTO on mac is possible right now. Or is there something else Iā€™m missing here?

LTO for Stan programs has worked locally for years on non-Windows, although the binary versions of R packages would not utilize those flags. LTO on Windows with RTools40 feels a lot closer than it was with RTools35 but we still get error messages.
